Attendance is a key component to your child’s success

Our curriculum is designed to underpin our school values of:

Teachers have high expectations of pupils; pupils rise to this challenge.

Respect

Students learn how to listen carefully to others and the importance of digesting opposing views before responding.

Students learn how to have effective debates and discussions and discover how often there is no right or wrong answer; this develops the students’ ability to mediate, work well as part of a team or manage disagreements as a leader.

Within our lessons, a strong foundation of respect for others is ingrained within the students’ learning.

High Aspirations

Within Religious Studies students are motivated through the range of challenging and diverse topic that we study to have high aspirations.

We encourage students to challenge themselves and to question their own opinions.

Our curriculum is shaped around the learners at the school, within lessons students will have the ability to learn through questioning and investigating topics; this improves their evaluation skills and allows a student challenge themselves.

Confidence

Within the curriculum, students are encouraged to learn independently in lessons through inclusion of independent tasks; this allows students to recognise their own strengths and weaknesses.

We include a variety of different tasks (reading, extended writing, video clips, discussion-based activities etc) to ensure students are working on improving their knowledge retention skills.

The intention behind our curriculum in Religious Studies is to help our students build confidence in themselves and have an awareness of what they are able to achieve.
