Alan Turing was a British mathematician and logician who contributed greatly to mathematics, computer science and artificial intelligence. He attended King’s College, Cambridge where he was awarded a first-class honour in mathematics. Famously, Alan Turing was apart of a team of people in who were fundamental in breaking code during the Second World War to defeat the Germans. His mind and problem-solving capabilities were envied by many and his diversity in decoding and he developed a new way of people understanding and using mathematics that have shaped the developments we see today and in the future.

Following his death almost 70 years ago, Alan Turing’s face will appear on the new £50 note acknowledging his contribution to UK history

He was born 1912 in London and died in 1954 in Wilmslow, Cheshire
